Primary and Seconday Education

The Copper River School District (CRSD) encompasses a vast area, with K-12 schools in Slana, Glennallen, and Kenny Lake; K-5 in Copper Center; and K-6 in Chistochina. The CRSD mission is "to provide a quality education in a rural environment." As an alternative to attending school at one of these facilities, many school-aged children in the Copper River region participate either full or part-time in a home-school curriculum.

Post-Secondary Education

The Copper River Basin is fortunate to have local opportunities for post-secondary educational endeavors.

Prince William Sound Community College 

The main campus for Prince William Sound Community College is in Valdez, however Glennallen supports a substantial satellite campus, equipped with ITV technology for students to participate in courses that are not offered locally.

Alaska Bible College

Located in Glennallen, Alaska Bible College is a four-year, accredited, non-denominational Christian school offering basic and advanced training for Christian ministry and further study.

Wrangell Institute for Science and the Environment -- a grassroots organization dedicated to teaching science and environmental education

Wrangell Mountain Center -- a private nonprofit institute which fosters understanding, appreciation, and stewardship of wildlands and mountain culture in Alaska through scientific and artistic inquiry in the Wrangell Mountains
